Destination brief · whole & chunk

Whole and Chunk Dried Galangal for Buyers in France

Start a processing brief with the work your equipment will perform. The incoming piece range must support that operation. It makes no claim about the finished ingredient.

Measure the Work Before the Mill

A larger-piece purchase leaves the preparation choices with the processor. That flexibility is useful only if the receiving line can handle the input. Ask the operator to record any manual selection, pre-cutting, or screening required during a trial.

When comparing two offers, use the usable input after agreed preparation as well as the quoted weight. Whole and chunk are not universal quality grades. A larger piece does not automatically produce a better finished ingredient.

Document the Input, Not a Hypothetical Output

Keep the botanical identity, the piece description, and the batch records separate from the specifications for a powder or extract made later in France. If the final customer requires a particular test, identify the material and the stage to be tested. Your broker uses French Customs' guidance to review the actual imported product, not a future finished form.

Your France Quotation Brief

Pre-Processing

Describe the cutter, mill, or preparation stage and its input constraints. Provide a scale reference for pieces that are too large.

Sorting Basis

Agree the treatment of small fragments and the permitted piece mixture. Record who measures or visually checks each point.

Testing Stage

Separate a requested raw-material analysis from a finished-product test. Confirm the available service and method before relying on it.

Pack Handling

State the pack weight and how the material is removed at the French plant. Include the lot-code requirements for linking bags to production batches.

Questions Before Ordering

Does Whole Mean Entire Unbroken Rhizomes?

Not automatically. Define it in your order. Trade names alone do not establish the accepted shape or the share of broken pieces. Settle both against a representative sample.

Can a Finished Powder Specification Be Used Unchanged?

Usually no. Translate it into checks that apply to the incoming larger pieces, and identify any tests that must wait until your own processing is complete.
